I have a question for you ladies. Here it goes. Whenever you decide to go shopping for shoes, do you dread having someone greet you on the sales floor, offer you assistance, and even go pull the shoes you want? In other words, are you just fed up with that damned old customer service?

I start to approach an elderly black woman who came strolling through the women's shoe department, along with another woman a little younger.

As soon as I began to greet her, I realized she wasn't there to exchange pleasantries or form any friendships. She was on a mission.

Hey Lady, You Forgot Your Socks!

It was mid-day, on an average Tuesday afternoon, when I heard the words that no commission shoe sales associate likes to hear.

"Yes, I'd like to return these," the woman on the other side of the counter said.

I looked down, noticed the clearance shoe sticker on the edge of the box and breathed a sigh of relief. If I was the one who originally sold her the pair of Ralph Lauren short boots, a clearance price means that my charge-back will not be too high of a dollar amount.
