There's Still Time to Put Your Best Feet Forward for Spring

Well, it's no secret, the sun has started to hang around longer, and even though spring break is behind us now, there is still time to put your best feet forward for spring. If you haven't done so already, it's time to say goodbye to the winter boots and let those tootsies begin to see the light of day. But, before you kick the boots out of the house and peel the socks away, are your feet ready for the world to see?

Maybe it's a good time to put a little extra focus on your feet think-up some style decisions you could make for the real estate located below your ankles.

Make Time For A Pedicure

I don't know of any woman who doesn't enjoy a little foot pampering. Not only does it make your stems look pretty, but there are a number of positives involved with a pedicure.

Top Five Benefits of Getting A Pedicure

(These, according to an article by Miriam Arora on SeniorAdvisor.com)

1. Infection prevention

Many of us take our two feet for granted. How often do we think about infections invading our little tootsies? Not often enough, but it’s very possible. One of the best prevention methods is to get a pedicure from time to time. Pedicures get down in the nooks and crannies of our nails and toes and remove any nasty bacteria that might be lurking around, and it cleans any dirt so infections don’t have a fighting chance. This also helps with fungi nail diseases and that pungent and prominent foot odor that can occur.

2. Exfoliation

You exfoliate your face to make it nice and soft, brighter, and feel brand new. Why are you forgetting about your feet? Getting a pedicure exfoliates your foot skin, making it fresh and free of dead skin. It helps promote new cell growth so your feet are left nice and soft, and look even better!

3. Circulatory benefits

We know massages help with body circulation, and it’s often popular to get neck, back and shoulder massages, but again, your feet are left out in the cold. Don’t forget about your feet anymore! Get a pedicure, and get those feet massaged. It will help ease any tension in your feet. They are your only way of getting around, so you have tension in more places on your body than just your neck and shoulders. Help get the blood in your feet moving again to evenly distribute your body heat and relieve any pain that might be occurring.

4. Moisturize

You moisturize the rest of your body, right? You probably even have special creams for your body and face. But again, your poor lonely feet are left out of the equation. Let a pedicure make up for your negligence and get those toes looking and feeling good again with some moisturizer. The massage in combination with some nice oils will feel great, no doubt, but it also helps prevent any cracks and blisters that you might be prone to. This is especially great for those who love wearing open shoes and maybe walk barefoot often. You need to moisturize even more since your feet are exposed to the elements. Moisturizing also helps your nails from splitting which can be a nasty task to take care of, and of course leaves you open to infections.

5. Relaxation

Well, of course! Pedicures can make you feel good and more confident, and they will undoubtedly feel amazing. The combination of getting your feet renewed through exfoliation and cleaning, then moisturizing to make them like you’ve never walked on them a day in your life, and the simple act of sitting back, relaxing and enjoying yourself, all make for a great reason to treat yourself to a pedicure.

Once the pedicure is done, and you've removed those silly looking temporary sandals, perhaps you might feel like doing a little shopping for some brand new flip flops or sexy sandals. One of my store's customer favorites for spring and summer is Yellowbox (Available at Amazon).

Once you have picked-up the perfect pair of flip flops to adorn your feet, why not add a little bling? One of the fastest ways to add a little pizazz to your peds is with a toe ring or two.

In certain cultures, like in India, the toe ring can signify a married woman. A pair of two toe rings are normally worn on the second toe of each foot.

In modern American culture, the toe ring generally has no meaning other than just a personal fashion statement.

Q: Which toe should rings be worn on?
A: The toe next to the big toe is the most common.

Once these steps have been completed, the pedicure, the flip flops, and the toe rings, you are well on your way to being more than ready for spring. And just in case you have a little more time, a little extra cash, and want something a little more wild, there's always a few other choices...
